F.A.Q. - Read this before you ask for help! I heard sombody compressed 2 GB to 10 MB with UHARC, how can I do that? Compression ratio totally depends on the files you try to compress! While text files and alike achieve good compression, pictures and music might not compress at all. Use "High" compression plus maximum dictionary size in UHARC/GUI to get the best compression possible. There is no "secret trick" to further boost compression. Please accept that. Thanks ;-) I just installed MPlayer for Windows, but it runs in some foreign language! I got reports that there is a problem with MPUI's language detection code on certain systems. So in some cases MPUI will use some "unexpected" language instead of your local language. But don't worry, you can switch to your prefered language at any time. Just go to the options window! Furthermore for future releases I've added a workarround to the installer... What does "Packed Bitstream" mean? Packed Bitstream is a special way (hack) to store B-Frames within the AVI container format. It was invented by DivX to by-pass a limitation in Video for Windows (VfW), which is used by VirtualDub. This is necessary, because the outdated VfW interface doesn't support B-Frames properly. Nevertheless, Packed Bitstream produces an incorrect bitstream and thus is to be avoided at all costs! Please note that AVI itself does *not* require Packed Bitstream, it's nasty VfW that causes the problems. Tools like Avidemux can produce proper AVI's with B-Frames, because they don't involve VfW at all. | ||||||
